1. Choose an area to work
2. Briefly describe your main site and record the date
and time of the observation
3. Make a sketch map (mental map) on that same page
4. Choose photo areas around your site
5. Take photos (include buildings, vegetation, etc..)

6. Mark sites on map where you took photos
7. Check clarity: Keep it simple
8. Decide: Do you want to re-sketch the sites later
on another sheet? How can you use the photos?
9. Final: Do you want a legend and cardinal directions?
Map Title? How do you want your map to look?
